Linda McBain Cuyler Short Biography

Linda McBain Cuyler combines paint, fabric and heavy machine stitching to create rich, textural work inspired by nature. She focuses mainly on landscapes and gardenscapes, referencing the interaction between people and nature. She graduated with a Bachelor of Interior Design from University of Manitoba in ’81, but for over 20 years has explored the shapes and colours of the land, as an artist.

When Edmonton was selected as a cultural capital of Canada, Linda represented Edmonton by demonstrating her work at Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa. Her artwork was included in the 2009 Craft Biennale in Cheongju, South Korea and in the Cultural Olympiad during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Linda has been nominated for an Alberta Craft Council Craft Excellence Award and has received an Edmonton Artist Trust Fund Award.

Linda divides her time between exhibiting large one-of-a-kind art, creating a line of small artworks for sale in shops and teaching workshops.
